About Modern Digital Marketing Founder, Michael Massie
Originally a small business owner of an “offline” business, Mike Massie started writing web copy and building websites back in the late 90′s in order to advertise his own business on the internet.
“I knew I had to get my business online, so I built a website using Microsoft Publisher and uploaded it to the web. I liked online marketing so much and got so many compliments on my site, that it soon became a passion for me.”
Writing A Book Results in Learning A Lot About Internet Marketing
Years later, Mike wrote and published Small Dojo, Big Profits, a business manual for martial arts school owners. Since he knew that the best way to market his book was via the internet, he applied the web marketing knowledge he’d gained over the last several years to marketing his business manual online.
“I quickly found that there weren’t that many martial arts instructors who were specifically looking for business information on the internet. Plus, the market was dominated by just a few large companies. So, I had to get really good at marketing online, really fast. That meant learning web design for marketing, sales copywriting, e-commerce… the works. Before long, my sites were ranking above those owned by the large consulting firms, and I was selling a lot of books through organic SEO.”
A Passion Turns Into a Career
This passion for online marketing soon led Mike to gain considerable knowledge and expertise in writing SEO content and sales copy for the web. And, it paid off. “Before long, I was selling manuals left and right. Plus, I had school owners contacting me for all manner of services, including web design and SEO. Before I knew it, I was offering a complete line of small business marketing and business coaching services for both aspiring and established martial art school owners.”
Modern Digital Marketing Is Born…
“When I started building websites, writing online sales copy, and doing SEO for martial art school owners, it never occurred to me how many people the average school owner influences. As it turns out, many of those clients are small business owners and professionals who also need to advertise on the web. It didn’t take long before I had people contacting me from all sorts of different industries requesting my services.”
At this point, Mike realized that he wasn’t going to be able to just limit himself to working with just martial art schools. So, Modern Digital Marketing was born.
